WhatsApp rolling out call links feature
According to the leading WhatsApp news portal WAbetaInfo, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced about call links to feature through a Facebook post on the 26th of September. The report mentions that this new feature will give you the ability to generate a link for a call.
This will help you to share the link with other people so that they can join the call at once. WhatsApp head Will Cathcart also announced this feature through his official Twitter handle. Cathcart mentioned that this feature works for both audios as well as video calls.
The leading WhatsApp news source also gave some references to the ability to create call links in a previous report. Now the platform is finally rolling out the feature to some select beta testers. WAbetaInfo has also released a screenshot of the call links feature. In the image, you can see the new interface.
To check if this feature is enabled for your WhatsApp account just open the calls tab. If a new row ‘create call link’ appears this means the feature is already available to you. So you can start creating a link for any call. You have to choose whether you want to create a link for an audio call or a video call.
After this, the call will automatically turn into a group call when more than two people join the call using the link. However, having a WhatsApp account is necessary to join the call. The report further mentions that these calls will be fully end-to-end encrypted. Notably, your phone number also gets shared automatically when you share a call link.
To get this feature download the latest beta version of the app from Play Store. If still, the ability to create call links does not show up on your WhatsApp account, please wait for a coming update.
