WhatsApp is rolling out a new ‘Admin Delete – Status updates’ feature for beta Android users. The platform has submitted this update through the Google Play Beta Program. With this update, the current version reaches 2.22.19.17. According to reports, some lucky beta users can get these features in some previous updates also.
Being one of the most in-demand social messaging apps WhatsApp has to keep upgrading itself to enhance its user experience. In this beta update, the Meta-owned platform is bringing one more great version of the app. Know the details of what new the platform offers you this time, in this article.
WhatsApp’s new feature – Admin Delete for Status Updates
In a previous article released by WABetaInfo, the news portal announced a new feature for group admins. This feature enables the group admins to delete any other group member’s messages for everyone in the group.
According to the reports this feature was then released only to some select beta testers. In this current beta update, the platform is rolling out this ability to more beta testers. This means now more group admins will be able to use this feature.
To check if this feature has been enabled for your WhatsApp account, just try deleting any message sent by other group members. Notably, you have to be the admin of that group. If the ‘delete for everyone option is visible to you, that means the feature has been enabled for your WhatsApp account.
Additionally, the platform has also released this feature for testing to those who use the stable version of WhatsApp. So, group admins of non – the beta version of WhatsApp will also be able to test this feature.
WhatsApp Status updates in the Chat list
Along with this feature the company is also rolling out the ability to view status updates within the chat list in this same update. The company had already released this feature in a previous WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.18.17 update. It was then available only to some select beta testers, now the platform is releasing it to more users.
However, if you don’t like viewing the status updates within your chat list, you can always mute them from the status tab. This will prevent them from appearing in your chat list. According to the report of WAbetaInfo, these features will be available to those who install the latest version of the WhatsApp beta.
If you still don’t see these features after installing the latest version, please wait for a future update of the app. The platform is gradually rolling it out to more people so you can expect to get it soon in the coming weeks.
